Numerous law enforcement agencies throughout the nation employ facial recognition technology to assist in identifying suspects during specific investigations. This lack of transparency has raised further questions about the extent and appropriateness of facial recognition technology’s deployment. One notable case is that of Robert Williams, a resident of Detroit, who experienced a false arrest due to a flawed facial recognition match in 2020.
