Brianna Ghey was murdered on Saturday, February 11 - her body was discovered in Culcheth Linear Park at approximately 3.13pm. Now, a petition has been created online that would see the Gender Recognition Action (2004) amended, with some taking to social media to name the proposed amendment Brianna's Law. When a trans person wishes to change their gender legally, they must obtain a Gender Recognition Certificate (GRC). It is understood that Brianna did not have a GRC at the time of her death, and on her death certificate it is expected that her gender will be listed as her birth gender.
