Chinese companies using facial recognition must obtain consent or legal authorization before collecting personal information, according to a bill published Tuesday in the Asian giant. The most powerful models include facial recognition systems that attempt to facilitate the work of security forces. Pay for facial recognition is also growing rapidly. “Using this technology to collect facial information will require personal or written consent as required by law,” the text said. On the list is SenseTime, a company that makes facial and image recognition applications that do crowd monitoring, among other things.
