'Connected' cars will be able to predict accident blackspots before a crash happens

Vehicles connected to the internet can be used to predict where accident black spots will be before any collisions take place, according to a new report. The data collected by the car can then help experts to accurately geolocate particular points on the road network that could see a rise in crashes. Live data feeds from these connected vehicles will also be able to measure the impact of new road furniture and overgrown hedges on particular stretches of road. 'Connected vehicles can change that. The report defines connected vehicles as those which can 'generate, transmit and receive/process data'.
