Ford executives joined the Governor of Michigan to announce the construction of a new battery plant in Marshall, Michigan. "We are committed to leading the electric vehicle revolution in America, and that means investing in the technology and jobs that will keep us on the cutting edge of this global transformation in our industry," said Bill Ford, Ford executive chair. However, LFP batteries currently don't have the power density of NCM batteries, meaning there's less power output per pound of an LFP battery pack compared to an NCM battery pack. Ford will start offering a Mustang Mach-E with an LFP battery pack this spring. LFP packs will likely find their way into additional "standard range" Ford models, while NCM packs are used in longer-range EVs.
