Under the new law, drones may only be used at outdoor, government-hosted events. Beryl Lipton is a law enforcement technology and surveillance researcher at the Electronic Frontier Foundation, a digital rights advocacy group. “There should be a municipal, local conversation about surveillance,” Lipton said.
