Autonomous Trucks
Kodiak Robotics, a self-driving truck company, is conducting a pilot program in Texas that allows their autonomous tractor-trailers to undergo pre-approved roadside inspections. Instead of traditional law enforcement, inspectors certified by Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) are responsible for inspecting the self-driving trucks. The pilot program began in April and is expected to continue for a few more months. The traditional roadside inspections rely on drivers’ assistance, but this pilot program offers an alternative solution. Kodiak has employed three inspectors, and a portion of their fleet in Texas is participating in the pilot program.
