Kodiak Robotics is currently piloting the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) enhanced inspections program, which allows autonomous trucks to bypass roadside inspections. The aim is to provide the same time-saving systems to AV trucks as human-driven trucks. Drivewyze product manager Miranda Leadbeater said that the weigh station bypass system designed for AV trucks closely mirrors their approach with traditional trucks. The inspection system has been modified to collect additional autonomous vehicle data and process it according to the new set of autonomous vehicle bypass rules. As autonomous trucks prepare to operate on commercial routes without a human driver, addressing issues such as roadside inspections becomes crucial.
