Will Bernhjelm, the VP of Security at Mall of America, emphasized that their guests' safety starts before they enter the building. "Our guests’ security starts before they actually ever get inside the building," Bernhjelm said. ""We have 6 bomb dogs on site, they all come home with us, they’re part of the family,” said Lt. Kenny McDonough, with Mall of America Security, to KTSP. The mall decided in response to provide all of its officers with body cameras in the coming months. Aside from the K-9 unit and body cameras, Mall of America is also considering using facial recognition technology.
