Officers were first alerted to the vehicle when intelligence highlighted it as having potential links to a series of outstanding alleged offences. After witnessing the driver make an alleged dangerous overtake, officers switched on their blue lights, which the van allegedly ignored, and instead pulled away. A pursuit then began in which the van allegedly repeatedly broke the speed limit and carried out dangerous overtaking manoeuvres around blind bends, as it headed along the A617 towards Rainworth. Two men, both aged 21, were later arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and failing to stop in connection with the incident. One of the men was also arrested on suspicion of driving without a licence and possession of cannabis.
