Volkswagen announced last week that it will begin testing self-driving electric vehicles in Austin later in July, according to CNBC's John Rosevear. Per Reuters' Hyunjoo Jin, Volkswagen is only the latest company to introduce self-driving vehicles in Texas. Cruise, a General Motors subsidiary, already has a presence in Austin, and the company announced in May that it is expanding to Houston and Dallas. Autonomous vehicle company Waymo has also been testing its technology in Austin, according to KXAN's Kelsey Thompson.
