As car companies continue to implement advanced technology with the goal of improved safety and available autonomous driving, Polestar is expanding its relationship with Luminar. Luminar is a developer of autonomous driving technology that uses LiDAR (light detection and ranging) to create a 3D picture of the area surrounding a vehicle. This advanced technology integration moves Polestar closer to offering Level 3 autonomous driving. The first Polestar model to be equipped with this advanced technology will be the new Polestar 3, the brand’s first SUV offering. Customers can now order the Polestar 3 with LiDAR technology; however, this does move the delivery date to late 2024.
