“We are thrilled that our distinguished colleagues Costas Synolakis and Gérard Medioni have been elected to the National Academy of Engineering,” USC Viterbi Dean Yannis C. Yortsos said. Maseeh, who holds a doctorate from MIT, has founded or cofounded several successful tech companies and is a member of the USC Viterbi School of Engineering’s Board of Councilors. In 1996, the same year that he was made a full professor at USC Viterbi, Synolakis founded the USC Tsunami Research Center. He serves on the USC Viterbi Board of Councilors. In 2010, Massiah donated to USC Viterbi $1 million to establish the Maseeh Entrepreneurship Prize Competition at USC Viterbi.
