Engineers are working to repair a damaged conductor rail near Lewes which caused disruption last week (Image: Network Rail)Several trains from Brighton and London have been cancelled for urgent engineering works that are taking place tonight. Some services between Brighton and Seaford and from London Victoria to Eastbourne and Ore have been cancelled. The work taking place is believed to be due to a damaged conductor rail in the Southerham Junction area, just east of Lewes. “The following routes through this area will be affected, in both directions for London Victoria to Eastbourne/Hastings/Ore, Brighton to Seaford and Brighton to Eastbourne/Ore. We are putting as many alternative services in place as we can.”Southern is currently working with bus suppliers to arrange rail replacement services.
