A self-driving trucking startup is gearing up to start mass-producing its autonomous driving technology following an acquisition that will take the company public. The transaction will enable Plus to scale its PlusDrive autonomous trucking technology platform globally later in 2021. Those endeavors involve pilot projects for commercial autonomous trucking operations and the deployment of autonomous fleets internationally. The move would follow an IPO from fellow autonomous trucking developer TuSimple Holdings, which debuted on the Nasdaq exchange in April. Hennessey said that autonomous trucking can help solve these issues by cutting human error and operating costs, reducing carbon emissions, and increasing trucking reliability.
