The ESRB have proposed to introduce a new concept which will allow parents greater control over kids playing video games. This would see a facial ‘age estimation’ used to determine the age of the player. The Entertainment Software Ratings Board (ESRB) is set up to assign age and content ratings for video games in the US and Canada. And the new proposal for implementing Facial Recognition Technology was brought up by the FTC recently, when they were put up for public opinion. The Chinese company Tencent have also recently launched a program which is very similar, however their program uses facial recognition to allow kids to have more game time.
