The aim of this partnership is to mass-produce robotaxis The joint venture will include Toyota 's collaboration with Chinese state-owned Guangzhou Automobile Group (GAC) and is slated to be operational this year. GAC-Toyota will be responsible for manufacturing cars equipped with Pony.Ai's ride-hailing software, enabling the production of efficient robotaxis.This partnership signifies a significant step in the ongoing alliance between Pony.Ai and Toyota, which initiated their cooperation back in 2019. This move is part of Toyota's broader shift towards electric vehicles, as it endeavors to keep pace with the fiercely competitive local rivals in China's automotive industry.
