Looking into an automotive crystal ball, Tesla won't be the only self-driving vehicle on the road in the future. Volvo announced that the fully electric EX90 will come standard with LIDAR technology, though the software necessary for autonomous driving won't be ready until later in 2023. For now, its primary role will be improving safety, with the goal of utilizing the system for autonomous driving in the future. Is a zero-collision future really possible with autonomous driving, which doesn't exactly have the best track record? Volvo has yet to disclose when the EX90's autonomous driving software will be ready, and it's unknown how customers will pay for it.
