The California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) has approved the final permits for Cruise and Waymo to offer commercial robotaxi services in San Francisco. The decision allows Cruise and Waymo to operate their self-driving vehicles 24/7 in the city. While Cruise and Waymo have secured the necessary permits, they still have work to do in winning over public opinion. Additionally, transportation analytics company Inrix raised $70 million in financing, while Proterra, an electric vehicle (EV) company, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. In related news, Cruise has started testing its self-driving vehicles in Atlanta.
