1 hospitalized after car smashes into Grove Park utility pole

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — A person was sent to the hospital after a car smashed into a utility pole in Atlanta’s Grove Park neighborhood on Friday morning.

The accident happened on Chappell Road near Donald Lee Hollowell Parkway, sending the pole leaning over into wires. The road was closed as crews repaired the damage.

The victim was sent to Grady Memorial Hospital, where their condition is unknown.

Just before the crash, police were called to reports of gunfire in the 1300 block of Joseph E. Boone Boulevard, about half a mile away. Officers are investigating whether the two incidents are connected.
