Therefore, the approach from the Port of Taichung is to use AI-based automated alerting in its new smart inspection system, while also combining AI vessel image recognition with the port’s automatic identification system (AIS).
The automated security system reduces the operational burden on human monitoring and instead allows port staff to focus on responding to anomalous events rather than just routine surveillance.
The new arrangement is seen to strengthen the safety of all vessels entering and leaving the port.
