(TNS) — Anne Arundel County is investigating a cybersecurity incident discovered in August, according to a news release.

In the separate incident, the county detected irregular activity on a limited number of systems this summer on Aug. 28.

The August incident did not disrupt county operations, and officials said they do not expect any impact on essential services.

The county said it has found no indication that files from the August incident have been used to commit consumer fraud or identity theft, or that the incident was related to any previous cybersecurity incident.

Cybersecurity specialists are reviewing the files to determine what information they contain and whether anyone’s personal information was affected.
