Aurora Innovation aims to have over 30,000 driverless trucks running by 2030, generating revenue in the billions of dollars through its driver as a service (DaaS) business.
The target, presented at an investor day in Dallas, builds on plans to operate 200 driverless trucks by the end of 2026.
That year-end fleet is fully allocated to customers on transport as a service contracts, and its driverless customer base has nearly doubled in 2026.
Hirschbach plans a 500-truck owned fleet under a DaaS deal from 2027, though that rests on a non-binding memorandum of understanding.
McLane and Werner trucks average an annualised 225,000-plus miles, more than twice a conventional truck, with over 500,000 driverless miles logged to date.
