Connected Vehicles Cut Costs, Emissions: Geotab Connected vehicle data is enabling measurable emissions reductions and cost savings across global fleets, according to the 2025 Sustainability and Impact Report released by Geotab. The report shows that electric vehicles on its platform traveled more than 1.4 billion kilometers during the year, while organizations reduced fuel waste, improved efficiency and advanced electrification strategies. The report—Geotab’s fifth annual disclosure—details how telematics data is being used by more than 55,000 customers worldwide to address operational costs, regulatory requirements and decarbonization targets simultaneously. It highlights that fleet operators are reducing idling by up to 30%, eliminating millions of liters of fuel waste and using data-driven insights to determine when and how to transition to electric vehicles. “We no longer need to debate sustainability versus profitability; when combined with a pragmatic focus on short-term value, sustainability becomes a clear driver of efficiency and profitability. EV adoption is an immediate and measurable step—a fundamental building block that creates a strong foundation to achieve long-term goals in a credible and cost-effective way,” said Neil Cawse, Founder and CEO, Geotab. The report positions connected vehicle data as a key tool for aligning environmental and financial performance, particularly as fleet operators face increasing pressure from fuel costs, emissions regulations and efficiency requirements. Sustainability initiatives, it notes, are increasingly being integrated into core business strategies rather than treated as standalone programs. Geotab also reported several corporate sustainability milestones across its own operations and supply chain. The company improved its CDP Climate Change score to a “B” rating, reflecting progress in environmental governance, risk disclosure and industry collaboration. It also earned a silver sustainability rating from EcoVadis, placing it among the top 15% of evaluated companies. In emissions reporting, Geotab recorded a 42.5% year-over-year reduction in Scope 2 emissions (location-based), equivalent to an
