Authorities confirmed that a vehicle found in a Leawood, Kansas, pond over the weekend is connected to a missing person case dating back a decade.
The Leawood, Kansas, Police Department announced Saturday that a volunteer dive team found a car at the bottom of a retention pond in the 14700 block of Norwood Street.
It was determined that a vehicle under the water, and its license plate, matched the description of a vehicle involved in a missing person investigation.
After contacting family, Leawood police say the car found was the car reported to be driven by Jay Flekier, 59.
Flekier was reported missing from his south Leawood home in June 2016.
