COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) -Drivers will have less time to access Memorial Park on Sundays as Colorado Springs police work to cut down on problems tied to car meets.
Starting Sunday, Sept. 27, vehicle gates at Memorial Park will close at 7 p.m., two hours earlier than the normal 9 p.m. closing time.
People can still walk or bike into the park until 9 p.m. Colorado Springs police said officers responded to nearly 200 calls at Memorial Park between July 21 and Sept. 21.
The earlier closure comes as the city completes more than $1.7 million in safety improvements at Memorial Park.
Police said street racing, parking lot takeovers and problematic car meets are not limited to Memorial Park.
