A proposed mandatory national standard requiring commercial road transport in China to be fitted with cellular vehicle-to-everything (C-V2X) systems could accelerate the technology's rollout beyond pilot projects.
The Ministry of Transport released the draft for public comment earlier this year.
Under the proposal, vehicles used in commercial road transport, other than trailers, would have to be equipped with systems using LTEV2X, a 4G-based form of C-V2X.
The technology enables vehicles to exchange safety information directly with nearby vehicles and roadside infrastructure, supporting warnings about potential collisions and other road hazards.
Automakers including FAW, SAIC, BYD and Nio have also launched production models equipped with C-V2X as standard.
