The two companies have already selected the first vehicle platform for the collaboration, with pilot operations scheduled to begin next year and broader commercial deployment targeted for 2028. The agreement marks a strategic expansion of ECARX's business scope beyond intelligent cockpit and vehicle computing platforms into the Robotaxi and autonomous mobility sector, opening what the company sees as a new long-term growth opportunity in smart transportation services. Under the framework agreement, ECARX will supply core technologies for May Mobility's next-generation autonomous driving architecture, including a customized AI central computing platform and a complete sensor suite. The solution is expected to be deployed across tens of thousands of autonomous vehicles operated by May Mobility. For ECARX, the deal represents entry into a rapidly expanding Robotaxi market segment, while May Mobility is expected to benefit from faster scaling of its autonomous fleet operations. The partnership combines ECARX's expertise in integrated intelligent driving technologies with May Mobility's operational experience in autonomous ride-hailing systems. May Mobility's autonomous driving stack uses a "Predictive World Model" AI framework capable of simulating traffic conditions up to 10 seconds into the future. The system generates multiple driving strategies and selects the optimal response through an onboard reasoning engine. The technology has already been commercially deployed in several cities across the United States and Japan. The two companies also said they aim to significantly reduce the total cost of autonomous vehicles, targeting a reduction of at least 50% in overall vehicle system costs by 2028.
