Patrons of the Landshut-based business have experienced a variety of issues after a firmware update (V1.5.1) for its CSL DD and Gran Turismo DD Pro was released, with many experiencing ‘torque overshoots’ which led to total wheelbase shutdown. The update was designed to roll out Fanatec’s proprietary ‘FullForce’ technology to the aforementioned products, which, in the company’s words, “fuses fidelity vibration cues with the core force feedback signal to deliver a more immersive driving experience”. Unfortunately, the free update seemingly backfired, leaving many customers with unresponsive wheelbases. “This change also introduced unintended torque overshoots under certain conditions that could trigger the power supply’s built-in protection, causing the base to shut down,” read an official statement (thanks to Boosted Media for the tip), with a new firmware update apparently fixing the problem. For customers still experiencing issues, Fanatec advises opening a support ticket with ‘FITS-501’ in the subject line for a speedy response. Fanatec has assured its customers that it will improve QA testing ahead of build releases to avoid similar incidents in future: “We’ve reviewed our firmware validation process and are expanding our test coverage to better reflect the extreme range of conditions our products encounter across all platforms,” continued the statement. “This includes more comprehensive back-to-back testing between firmware versions under identical hardware and software conditions. “We’re continuing to invest in our firmware engineering team while strengthening our QA and release process.
