Sweetwater County School District No. 1 and Farson-Eden School are recognizing student teams who earned top placements in the national MAGIC Capture the Flag Cybersecurity Puzzle Challenge. FARSON -- Sweetwater County School District No. 1 and Farson-Eden School are recognizing student teams who earned top placements in the national MAGIC Capture the Flag Cybersecurity Puzzle Challenge on April 18, as announced by the CyberWyoming Alliance. Three teams from Farson-Eden School competed in the virtual event, earning impressive national rankings of 16th, 17th, and 18th place. Competing alongside high school and college teams from across the country and internationally, Farson-Eden students demonstrated strong problem-solving, teamwork, and cybersecurity skills. The MAGIC Capture the Flag Challenge, sponsored by the Mid-Atlantic Gigabit Innovation Collaboratory (MAGIC), introduces students to foundational cybersecurity concepts through interactive, puzzle-based scenarios. The competition emphasizes critical thinking and collaboration in a fast-growing, high-demand career field. “Our students did an outstanding job representing Farson-Eden and Sweetwater County School District No. 1,” said Lesieli Dexter of Farson-Eden Middle/High School. “They embraced the challenge, worked through obstacles, and truly enjoyed the experience.” A total of 24 teams and 82 students participated in the event, including competitors from universities and schools across the United States and internationally. The Wyoming Department of Education’s Career and Technical Education (CTE) Division supported student participation by covering registration costs, while the CyberWyoming Alliance provided additional resources for teams. SCSD No. 1 remains committed to providing students with opportunities to explore career pathways in fields like cybersecurity, helping prepare them for future success in an increasingly digital world. The next MAGIC Capture the Flag Challenge is expected to take place in October.
