This week’s new Online Time Trial isn’t doing itself any favors on variety. Gran Turismo 7 sends the McLaren 650S Gr.4 back to Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, running with High Speed BOP on Racing Hard tires with specified settings. Of course, it’s not necessarily a bad combo. The 650S is one of the more forgiving Gr.4 cars in GT7, and Spa rewards exactly that kind of easy confidence through its faster sections. The problem is timing: this is now the second active online event asking players to set laps at Spa-Francorchamps, running alongside the Mercedes-AMG Virtual Championship that still has over a week left. Fortunately, the flat-out run through Eau Rouge and Raidillon remains one of the most demanding sequences in racing, and the lap’s blind crests and elevation changes punish anything less than full commitment. It’s just a lot of the same scenery for GT7’s time trial specialists. There’s also a week left on last week’s event, which drops the Aston Martin DB11 ’16 onto Autódromo de Interlagos on Sports Medium tires. That one closes July 16.
