A nation’s strength is increasingly determined by its creative capacity, its ability to master technology, and its capability to transform knowledge into competitiveness, stated National Assembly (NA) President Tran Thanh Man during a working session with the Vietnam Innovation Network in Korea (VINK) on September 6 in Seoul, the Republic of Korea (RoK). The session took place as part of the NA President's official visit to the RoK. The meeting focused on discussing solutions to connect the intellectual and technological resources of the overseas Vietnamese expert and intellectual community with practical domestic development needs. The Vietnam Innovation Network was established in 2019 under the auspices of the National Innovation Center (NIC). After more than six years of development, the system has gathered over 2,000 experts, intellectuals, scientists, and entrepreneurs across 22 countries and territories. Among them, VINK plays an active role by focusing on strategic technological fields such as semiconductors, artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, UAVs, clean energy, and smart cities. During the session, representatives from various ministries, sectors, and the NIC affirmed that mobilizing the intellectual resources of overseas Vietnamese is of vital importance as digital transformation and innovation become the primary drivers of growth. Regulatory agencies committed to continuing the refinement of mechanisms to turn the proposals and initiatives of overseas experts into specific projects and products that serve the country. Addressing the event, NA Chairman Tran Thanh Man stressed the importance of shifting the growth model. “Vietnam cannot develop rapidly using old drivers, nor can it achieve high growth targets with a model based primarily on capital, natural resources, and cheap labor.
