What does today's energy landscape mean for the energy transition? The energy transition is no longer primarily a generation challenge. It is increasingly becoming an electricity infrastructure challenge. Demand for electricity is growing rapidly, but in many regions the infrastructure needed to connect and deliver that electricity is not keeping pace. At the same time, the challenge has become more complex. We need to deliver an energy system that is not only sustainable, but also secure and affordable. The challenge is no longer simply generating more clean power. It is ensuring that power can be transmitted, distributed and used reliably, affordably and securely.
