- Hot Wheels Infinite Rush announced at Summer Game Fest - Developed by Milestone, creator of Hot Wheels Unleashed and Unleashed 2: Turbocharged - Set in an open world across four themed environments - Ferrari makes Hot Wheels game debut - Coming to PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Switch 2 on 24th September, with early access starting on 21st September Milestone has announced Hot Wheels Infinite Rush, a new open-world entry in its officially licensed game franchise launching in September. This won’t come as a surprise to some, though, as the arcade racer was accidentally leaked in an EB Games Australia retail listing earlier today. Infinite Rush marks the Italian studio’s first new entry in the fabled franchise since 2023’s Hot Wheels Unleashed 2: Turbocharged. However, GameMill Entertainment has published two games based on the diecast toy car line since then, with different developers utilising the license. 3D Clouds developed 2024’s Hot Wheels Monster Truck Stunt Mayhem, while Bamtang Games was behind last year’s Let’s Race: Ultimate Speed, based on the Netflix cartoon series. Instead of continuing the track-based Unleashed series, Infinite Rush is set in scaled-down open environments across four themed islands, with the ability to “sky jump” between each location. When free-roaming, players can smash through obstacles, perform stunts and hunt down hidden collectables. Up to four players can race online or in split-screen multiplayer, with cross-play support for all platforms apart from Switch 2 and asynchronous challenges. Notably, this marks the first fully open-world racing game in the studio’s 32-year history, with free roam elements restricted to disparate game modes in previous titles.
