How A2RL's Autonomous Racing Cars See the Track

That's the idea behind A2RL, the Abu Dhabi Autonomous Racing League.

It features big wings, a sculpted body, slick tires, and everything you'd expect from a modern, purpose-built formula-style racing car.

The A2RL cars, though, use a different engine, a turbocharged four-cylinder Honda K20C, producing around 500 horsepower.

That event also hosted a man-vs-machine event, with a demo autonomous car facing off against former Formula One driver Daniil Kvyat.

That's a big step backward from the progress shown at Abu Dhabi's Yas Marina circuit, where the autonomous cars were just 1.5 seconds slower.
