The partnership integrates Siemens’ power automation portfolio with EPG’s wide area monitoring systems (WAMS) and synchrophasor technology. This combination gives utilities and grid operators real-time visibility and advanced analytics to improve stability, detect issues earlier, and speed fault response. Transforming grid monitoring technology Traditional Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems have formed the foundation of power system monitoring. However, the variability of renewable energy requires more dynamic and precise analytical tools to maintain grid stability. EPG’s technology addresses this need by capturing high-speed, time-synchronised data. Synchrophasors measure voltage and current waveforms with GPS-level precision, recording magnitude and phase angle several times per second. By processing this data across the network, the integrated WAMS architecture provides a comprehensive view of system behaviour. Continuous data availability enables operators to detect rapid grid events that conventional systems may overlook. Integrating these technologies helps to advance grid intelligence.
