There has been a lot of talk on how the current generation of Formula 1 cars is much easier to drive compared to the previous crop that last raced in 2025.
Formula 1 dropped the ground-effect concept from the 2026 cars, which have much less downforce, but despite that, there is a perception that the current cars are easier to drive.
"The previous ground-effect cars were stiffer, with a rear end that always felt very tense, which made them more difficult to jump into for an FP1 session.
"On the other hand, the 2026 power unit is extremely complex.
The few times I have driven it have been challenging, whereas with the 2025 power unit you selected your strat mode and drove," he explained.
