Hyundai Motor Brasil has launched the all-new i20, positioning it between the HB20 hatchback and the Creta SUV as the third model to be produced at its Piracicaba plant in São Paulo state. Six variants spanning two engine options are priced from BRL99,990 (US$20,000) to BRL139,990 (US$28,000), with sales beginning immediately for the Brazilian domestic market. Power comes from two 1.0-litre three-cylinder flex-fuel units: a naturally aspirated 1.0 MPI producing up to 59 kW and a turbocharged 1.0 TGDI developing 85 kW and 172 Nm from 1,500 rpm. The i20 measures 4,130 mm long with a 2,580 mm wheelbase and 1,780 mm width, with a 346-litre boot expandable to 1,152 litres. The i20 introduces Hyundai’s ‘Art of Steel’ design language to Brazil, featuring the ‘H-Architecture’ LED lighting signature at front and rear—a continuous horizontal strip reinterpreting the brand’s H logo. For the first time in a Hyundai model produced in Brazil, the i20 supports over-the-air software updates, alongside the Bluelink connected-car system as standard across all grades. The SmartSense safety package is standard across all variants, including autonomous emergency braking, lane keeping assistance, blind spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert. Six airbags are fitted across the range, with adaptive cruise control and advanced driver assistance features reserved for higher grades. Source: Hyundai
