Hyundai Motor to Mass-Produce Self-Developed Autonomous Driving AI in 2029, Says It Will Surpass Rivals' Data Within 5 Years

Hyundai Motor Group will mass-produce Level 2++ vehicles equipped with its self-developed autonomous driving AI, "Atria AI," in the second half of 2029.

Level 2++ is not full autonomous driving but rather an "advanced driver assistance feature" where driving responsibility still rests with the driver.

Autonomous driving technology is not a field where software development alone can be immediately applied to production vehicles.

This is in the same family of technology as Nvidia's inference-based autonomous driving model "Alphamayo," unveiled earlier this year.

Park said, "Autonomous driving is not simply a convenience feature but a function directly tied to customer safety and trust," adding, "We will develop autonomous driving technology that customers can trust, based on a virtuous cycle of data, AI, and validation."
