The company said connected vehicle adoption across its portfolio has increased steadily since it introduced Hyundai Bluelink in 2019. According to the company, connected vehicles currently account for 20% of HMIL's portfolio, up from 4% in 2019. This means penetration has increased five-fold in seven years, reflecting rising demand for connected features focused on safety, convenience and vehicle ownership. HMIL said it has built one of India's largest connected car ecosystems, powered by 12 lakh lines of code. The company is also targeting more than 20 lakh cumulative connected car sales by 2030. A connected car is a vehicle equipped with internet connectivity and embedded technology that allows it to communicate with external devices, networks and services. This connectivity enables features such as remote vehicle monitoring, real-time diagnostics, live location tracking, over-the-air (OTA) software updates, in-car voice assistants, and emergency response systems like SOS alerts and crash notifications. In India, automakers like Hyundai offer this technology through dedicated platforms — Bluelink, in Hyundai's case — which link the car to a companion smartphone app, letting owners check vehicle health, lock or unlock doors remotely, set geofencing alerts, and access safety and convenience features from anywhere. Bluelink's reach Hyundai introduced Bluelink in 2019 with the VENUE, which the company describes as India's first OEM-fitted connected SUV. The AI-powered platform now offers more than 70 features across safety, security and convenience. Bluelink also supports more than 450 AI-powered voice commands across five languages.
