It is expected to leverage assets from the main iRacing simulation, which has recently updated several IndyCar elements, such as the hybrid system, the NXT support category, a new version of Barber Motorsports Park and the St. Petersburg venue.

An exact release date is not yet known, but the series claims it will launch “in the countdown to the 2027 Indianapolis 500.” The world-renowned race will take place on 30th May 2027.

“This is a project our team has been passionate about for a long time,” said Tony Gardner, iRacing president.

“We’re bringing everything we know about authentic, immersive racing to consoles and PC, and creating an experience worthy of the INDYCAR name. 2027 can’t come soon enough.”

It was originally slated for a 2026 release. It’s not clear if the game will represent the 2026 season, the 2027 season, or both. An accompanying image for the game showcases Pato O’Ward’s #5 Arrow McLaren Chevrolet and Álex Palou’s #10 Chip Ganassi Racing Honda in this year’s colours.

The game will be released for PC via Steam, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
