About 200 Chinese electric vehicles equipped with cameras and communication devices have been found freely entering and exiting South Korean military installations across the country.

Connected cars are equipped with around ten cameras, high-precision GPS positioning systems, radar, and microphones, allowing them to transmit collected information over the internet.

The United States and the European Union have expressed concern that information gathered by Chinese-made connected cars could potentially flow to Chinese intelligence authorities in real time.

Chinese vehicles are freely roaming military installations where even iPhones are banned due to security concerns.

The Ministry of National Defense has not yet taken security measures, such as barring connected cars from entry, nor has it requested security-related cooperation from vehicle manufacturers.
