Israel and Thailand should strengthen cybersecurity cooperation, Israeli officials and experts said at a Bangkok workshop on Monday on cyber threats, artificial intelligence (AI) and human capital.
The two-day Thailand-Israel AI & Cybersecurity Workshop, co-hosted by the National Cyber Security Agency (NCSA), the Israeli embassy and Israel's Economy and Industry Ministry, features five Israeli cybersecurity companies sharing expertise with Thai counterparts.
The first day focused on AI and cybersecurity strategies and real-world cases, while Thai cybersecurity personnel will receive hands-on training from Israeli experts during the remainder of the workshop.
Amit Musli, the head of the Israeli Economic and Trade Mission, said Israel could help strengthen Thailand's digital ecosystem.
Israeli Ambassador to Thailand Alona Fisher-Kamm said the workshop was part of efforts to deepen cooperation following a 2022 memorandum of understanding (MOU) on cybersecurity collaboration.
She said technological exchange was important, but developing human capital was at the heart of the partnership. This year's training has expanded to examine how artificial intelligence is being used in cyberattacks.
AVM Amorn Chomchoey, NCSA chief, said many organisations remained vulnerable to cyberattacks. Thai experts could benefit from the first-hand experience of Israeli cybersecurity companies, he said.
