Focus on Automated Processes at the Ramp According to the company, automating the loading and unloading of trucks presents special technical challenges. Different trailer geometries, varying load carriers, and limited space conditions make it difficult to use automated systems. At the same time, the demand for automation solutions is increasing in many logistics operations, partly due to a shortage of skilled workers and growing requirements for the efficiency of material flows. Jungheinrich sees the loading ramp in particular as a central bottleneck within logistical processes. The solution developed jointly with Navflex aims to automate this area and also enable safe operation in environments where people and autonomous vehicles work simultaneously. Combination of Vehicle Technology and AI Software As part of the cooperation, Jungheinrich brings its expertise in industrial trucks, autonomous mobile robots, and in the integration and service of automation solutions. The development is based on a vehicle platform from Jungheinrich, which is specially being further developed for automated use at loading docks.
