Kakao Mobility announced on July 8 that it is expanding its vehicle platform technology collaboration with Renault Korea as the companies prepare for the software-defined vehicle (SDV) era.
The company said it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Renault Korea on June 19 to collaborate on next-generation vehicle experiences. Under the agreement, Kakao Mobility's high-precision mapping, software, and in-car service capabilities will be integrated into Renault Korea's vehicle platforms.
The two companies plan to jointly develop and validate high-precision map data and software for advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS). They will also enhance next-generation in-vehicle infotainment (IVI) and connected car services by integrating mobility offerings such as navigation, parking, and EV charging.
Kakao Mobility said the partnership will serve as a foundation for expanding technology collaborations with domestic and global automakers. The company plans to strengthen its competitiveness in the SDV era by integrating its ADAS high-precision maps, location-based technologies, and its Kakao Navi-based "Kaowner" ecosystem—which combines parking, charging, and vehicle management services—into vehicle platforms.
