Kenworth has introduced a new reinforced front frame structure option for its T880 and T880S vocational trucks. The new frame structure is aimed at streamlining front-end equipment installation and reducing upfit complexity. Kenworth Announces Reinforced Front Frame Option for T880 and T880S Models Kenworth has released a factory-installed reinforced front frame option for T880 models, designed to simplify upfits, cut costs, and speed time to service. The factory-installed option includes reinforced front-of-frame castings, crossmembers, kicker braces, and an implement plate mounted behind the bumper. Together, these components create a high-strength mounting platform for equipment such as snowplows, hose reels, and steady legs. Factory Solution Cuts Time, Labor, and Cost By integrating the structure at the factory, Kenworth said it is eliminating the need for aftermarket front suspension modifications. That translates into faster build times, lower labor costs, and improved consistency for fleets and body builders, according to the OEM. The setup also serves as an alternative to traditional parent rail solutions for applications that don’t require a front engine PTO (FEPTO), simplifying installation while maintaining performance. Because the reinforced structure avoids modifications to the hood or cooling module, it helps maintain the T880’s driver visibility -- an important factor in vocational applications. It also reduces the need for unique or custom parts, easing the upfit process. The reinforced front frame option is now available for order on the T880S with a set-forward front axle. Availability for set-back front axle T880 configurations is expected later this year.
