Korea Advanced Materials Launches Quantum Blockchain Security Platform "QuantumSafe" Korea Advanced Materials, a KOSDAQ-listed company, has launched a blockchain security platform designed to counter the threats posed by quantum computers, signaling its entry into the related market. On April 6, Korea Advanced Materials announced the official global launch of “QuantumSafe,” the world’s first orchestration platform based on post-quantum cryptography (PQC) to protect the blockchain ecosystem. QuantumSafe is a SaaS (Software-as-a-Service) platform that enables developers to implement quantum-resistant security with a single API (Application Programming Interface) line, without altering existing blockchain structures. It supports a total of 19 major blockchains, including Ethereum, Bitcoin, and Solana, allowing developers to instantly apply quantum-resistant security without any protocol modifications. This platform is designed based on FIPS 204 (ML-DSA) and FIPS 205 (SLH-DSA), which are post-quantum cryptography standards finalized by the U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in August 2024. In addition, by integrating with Amazon Web Services (AWS KMS) Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) 140-3 Level 3 HSM, the platform ensures security and reliability. Recently, as advances in quantum computing technology accelerate, concerns over the stability of current cryptographic systems have been growing within the blockchain industry. BlackRock, the world’s largest asset manager, warned in a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) that “quantum computing could render the Bitcoin cryptographic infrastructure vulnerable.” Google’s quantum computing scientist, Dierdre Dallaire-Demers, also stated that “within five years, quantum computers capable of breaking Bitcoin’s cryptography could emerge.” Vitalik Buterin, co-founder of Ethereum, also unveiled a “quantum threat response roadmap” in February, aiming for a complete transition before 2030.
