Lawyers talk safety threshold for future as driverless cars hit the road NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) — Waymo launched driverless car operations to the public earlier this month, and while lawyers tell FOX17 News the cars have been safe, they say the safety threshold still needs to be addressed. Waymo tells FOX 17 News' Johnny Maffei that one of its cars, with no driver behind the wheel, is statistically safer than a human driver. Michael McCready of McCready Law says he sees those stats from the company. Still, state and city decision makers need to set specific dates for future companies that will inevitably launch similar operations in Nashville.
