Police used live facial recognition (LFR) technology during a recent operation at The Lexicon.
On Tuesday, August 18, Thames Valley Police deployed LFR vans to identify known suspects, deter criminal activity, and enhance public safety.
Thames Valley Police said: "The specialist LFR team will be working alongside our local officers to identify known suspects, deter crime and help keep our communities safer for everyone.
"Preventing crime is just as important as catching those who break the law."
Officers notified the public about the deployment in advance to maintain transparency.
Thames Valley Police said: "While this can mean some individuals choose to avoid us, the vans can help deter crime and keep the area safer."
Members of the public were encouraged to speak with officers to learn about the technology.
