Following a series of successful deployments in Peterborough, the equipment, which allows officers to identify wanted people, was rolled out in Cambridge city centre on Friday (October 2).

Sergeant Luke Charlton from the Cambridge neighbourhood team said: "Live facial recognition is another valuable tool that helps us protect the public by identifying wanted offenders and those who may pose a risk to our communities.

"Following successful deployments in Peterborough, we’re now bringing this technology to Cambridge.
